Box Office Mojo is website that shows the amount of money made from movie releases. Below is a screenshot of Supernatural horror movies and their gross from their movie releases. Box Office provides accurate information on the movies earnings throughout the lifetime or the release, as well it also orders the movies in most earned to least earned. The screen shot below shows us (taken on 15/10/14) that 'The Sixth Sense' has the highest gross rate since its opening/release which was in 1999. Against the other information there are newly or more modern released films such as 'The Conjuring' which was released in 2013 and 'The Ring' that was released in 2002 that have earned a lower amount of money compared to 'The Sixth Sense'.

The above figures show us that the horror movies that are Supernaturals can be very successful in the Box Office, and that is helping us in our decision to do a supernatural horror.

On Box Office Mojo I can see how well different sub-genres of horror are doing at the box office, for example I can see that the 'supernatural' category boasts 118 movies and the most popular of it's type - Sixth Sense - has a gross of $293.5 million, whereas the category of 'slasher' only has 98 films and it's most successful film - Scream - has had only a gross of $103.0 million. From this information i'm able to decide what genres would be the most well-received and those that pose a gap for an extremely successful film to be made of it's type. As a group, we have decided to create a 'slasher' film as the highest grossing film categorised as a 'slasher' was made nearly 20 years ago in 1996, which tells us that there is room for another successful movie of this breed. - CH
