I
We learned the basics of creating websites on 'Weebly'. We were also informed on how to make animations on the site 'Go Animate'. II We edited our website to make it more suited to the theme of horror; I did this by adding horror images and text. In a theory lesson we learned of camera angles and shots and why the right choices are crucial to making a film look as professional and clean as possible. We watched 'Black Hawk Down' and 'The Goonies' in order to achieve this. These films included various different camera angles and shots which gave me a good understanding as to where and when it is best to use them. III We started to make our production and distribution company video clips by searching for motion backgrounds on youtube and editing them. We edited them in Final Cut Pro by playing with and changing the colours, styles and contrasts and adding text. IV We learned how to make fake blood to use on camera. We brought in loads of ingredients such as peanut butter (soft & crunchy), chocolate sauce, golden syrup, food colouring, corn flour, gravy granules and washing up liquid. By bringing a variety of ingredients, it gave the group the opportunity to create different types of blood to see which types would produce the best scenes. The crunchy peanut butter blood would be great for use as guts and intestines as it had an extremely thick consistency and didn't splatter as opposed to the gravy blood which splatters easily due to it's runny consistency which would be best used for splashing and dripping. V We researched information on different genres of horror including slasher, supernatural, paranormal etc. We also expanded our brief for our film by discussing what features to include and what the backgrounds of characters are going to be. CH THE MUSIC, BY SLENDERMAN THAT WE HAVE considered for OUR OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE CALLED "SCARY Box Music".
In the end we decided to go with a song called 'The Cabin' by Ghost Grinder as it's eery and shows light and shade in terms of how dramatic it becomes as does our opening title sequence.

'DREAMWORKS OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE FROM 'THE RING'' In order to create the best opening title sequence possible, we are going to produce a production video. We are making a horror sequence so we researched production companies which specialise in horror. The video to the left features a 'DreamWorks' company film designed specifically for 'The Ring'. DreamWorks rarely make such movies therefore edit their original video to suit the theme of the film; they are typically associated with family films. This specific video features darker colours and silence to create tension. MUSIC
We have considered several different soundtracks for our opening title sequence. If we use an instrumental version of the Florence + The Machine track 'Seven Devils' it would directly parallel the footage as the song is very dark which would match the eery horror clip; this would serve as non-diegetic sound. We have also considered using contrapuntal sound in order to throw audiences making the scene appear joyful even though it's not. After considering creating a sequence about serial killers we decided to shoot a supernatural horror and our music is now called "Scary Box Music" by Slenderman. |
Our Opening Title Sequence is called Daemon and features a girl researching and looking up demon, devil and evil-spirit-related articles and images on the internet. As the music builds and creates tension, the scen becomes more distressing as what she's viewing becomes more severe and sinister. The scene climaxes with a sudden movement / bang occurring in the background of the room that she is studying of which gets her to venture over to investigate. Whilst investigating, we see a figure gradually move toward her as the screen alternating between static forces jump cuts to occur. At the very end we see the figure right behind the girl and the screen fades to black and we hear a woman scream.
